Recipe FAQs

→ Can I prep these in advance?
Totally! You can make everything the day before and bake when you're ready to eat.
→ How do I keep them warm if I'm taking them out?
A foil pan with a snug lid works well, or wrap up each slider in foil to trap heat.
→ Is it okay to switch up the cheese?
Of course! Swap in cheddar, Swiss, or provolone based on your taste.
→ Can I skip making fresh sausage patties?
Yep, store-bought pre-cooked ones save time. Just heat them before assembling.
→ What’s the best way to store extras and heat them later?
Keep them in the fridge up to 3 days. Rewarm in the oven at 325°F for around 10 minutes, or microwave individual rolls for about 30 seconds.

Ingredients

→ Main Ingredients

01 6 slices of spicy pepper jack cheese
02 8 slices of creamy American cheese
03 12 soft Hawaiian buns (or any slider-sized rolls)
04 8 large scrambled eggs
05 24 oz ground pork sausage (two breakfast rolls like Jimmy Dean)

→ Glaze

06 1/4 cup of sweet maple syrup
07 1/2 cup melted butter

Steps

Step 01

Turn your oven on and set it to 350°F.

Step 02

Grab a big skillet and warm it over medium heat. Form the sausage into 12 patties that are just a little larger than a sandwich roll. Toss them on the skillet and cook until there's no pink left.

Step 03

Take a serrated knife and split the rolls horizontally without tearing them apart. Lay the bottom pieces inside a 7x10-inch or 9x13-inch baking dish, then leave the tops off for now.

Step 04

Put the scrambled eggs on the bottom section of buns and lay the pepper jack over them. Place the sausage patties on next and finish it off with the American cheese slices. Put the bun tops back on carefully.

Step 05

Mix the melted butter and maple syrup in a small bowl. Use a brush to spread it on top of the rolls and let some drip down the sides and into the dish. Use every bit of the glaze.

Step 06

Bake for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese is gooey and fully melted. Dish them up and enjoy!

Notes

  1. To take these to a tailgate, use a throwaway foil pan or wrap each slider individually in foil to keep them warm.
  2. You can assemble them a day before and just bake when you're ready to serve.
