Garlic Cheese Buns (Printable Version)

Fluffy Hawaiian rolls stuffed with creamy sweet cheese, dunked in a rich garlic butter sauce, and baked until beautifully golden for a unique taste combo of savory and sweet.

# Ingredients:

→ For the Base

01 - 16 sweet rolls (like King's Hawaiian), best if left out at room temperature for a couple of hours to dry.

→ For the Cream Cheese Mixture

02 - 8 ounces (226g) room temperature cream cheese
03 - 2 to 3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk, depending on how sweet you prefer
04 - A small pinch of salt

→ For the Garlic Butter Blend

05 - 1/2 cup (113g) melted butter
06 - One large egg
07 - 1/4 cup of milk
08 - 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
09 - 2-3 tablespoons finely chopped or crushed garlic
10 - 1/2 teaspoon of salt
11 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
12 - 1/2 teaspoon paprika

→ For the Finishing Touch

13 - 2 tablespoons of shredded or grated parmesan cheese

# Steps:

01 - Heat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place a piece of parchment paper onto a baking tray.
02 - Take a serrated knife and carefully slice each roll into 8 connected sections, stopping before cutting all the way through. If that's tricky, you can make 4 sections instead.
03 - In a bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and salt until smooth. Scoop the mixture into a piping or plastic bag, then snip a small opening at the tip.
04 - Squeeze the cream cheese mixture into the slits you made in the rolls, making sure to distribute it evenly throughout the cuts.
05 - Whisk melted butter, egg, milk, garlic, sweetened condensed milk, salt, parsley, and paprika together in a mixing bowl.
06 - Dip each filled roll in the garlic butter mixture for one or two seconds on each side, just enough to coat without soaking through. Then, place them on the prepared baking tray.
07 - Take any leftover garlic bits from the mixture and brush or spoon them onto the tops of the rolls.
08 - Sprinkle parmesan over all the rolls so they're evenly covered.
09 - Put the tray in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the tops turn golden.
10 - Serve while still hot for the best texture and flavor.

# Notes:

01 - Sweet, salty, and garlicky, these buns have a one-of-a-kind flavor combo.
02 - Letting the rolls dry slightly helps soak up the mixture better without getting too wet.
03 - That sweet filling inside contrasts perfectly with the savory garlic butter outside.
