Beef French Dip Sandwiches (Printable Version)

Slow-cooked savory ground beef blended with seasonings and onions, topped with gooey cheese for the coziest sandwich ever.

# Ingredients:

→ Meaty Filling

01 - 1 big yellow onion, sliced thinly
02 - 2 lbs of lean ground beef
03 - Half a cup of quick oats

→ Flavor Boosters & Liquids

04 - 1 full tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
05 - 1 oz packet of beef onion soup mix
06 - 1⅓ cups of beef stock
07 - Half a teaspoon of garlic powder
08 - ¼ teaspoon of crushed black pepper

→ Topping & Bread

09 - Brioche buns or slider rolls (6 pieces)
10 - 6 slices of provolone cheese

# Steps:

01 - In a big pan on medium heat, toss the beef and onions together, breaking up the meat until it's fully browned and there’s no pink left.
02 - Pour out any extra fat left in the pan to make sure your sandwiches won't taste too oily.
03 - Put the beef and onion mixture into the slow cooker, spreading it in an even layer at the base.
04 - Combine the beef mix with oats, beef stock, seasoning packet, Worcestershire, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir it thoroughly until blended.
05 - Cover with the lid and let it cook on low for around 3-4 hours. This will thicken the mix and bring all the flavors together.
06 - Right before serving (15-20 min), layer the provolone cheese on top, close the lid, and wait for it to melt.
07 - Toast your buns lightly while waiting for the cheese to melt. This keeps the bread from getting soggy.
08 - Scoop a generous amount of the beef and cheese onto the bun's bottom half. Top with the other half and serve with some of the leftover juices for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - Quick oats soak up extra juice, thickening the mix.
02 - Keep some of the liquid in a bowl as dipping sauce.
03 - Stick leftover ones in the freezer for up to 3 months; reheat them using the slow cooker.
04 - Swap the provolone for Swiss or mozzarella if you’d like a different taste.
