Le Crookies Delight (Printable Version)

This heavenly mashup brings flaky croissant goodness together with the soft, chocolatey charm of a cookie. It’s crispy outside, gooey inside, and totally irresistible.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/4 cup sugar (white granules)
02 - 1/2 tsp baking soda for leavening
03 - 1 tsp salt for flavor balance
04 - 2 cups flour for structure
05 - 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
06 - 1/2 cup chilled water
07 - 1 cup chocolate bits
08 - 1/2 cup light brown sugar for sweetness
09 - 1 large egg for binding
10 - 1 tsp vanilla for added aroma
11 - 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional, adds crunch)

# Steps:

01 - Mix the flour, salt, and white sugar in a big bowl. Blend in the cold butter chunks until it feels like crumbly sand. Slowly pour in the chilled water as you stir to bring it all together, stopping as soon as it forms dough.
02 - Wrap the dough tightly with plastic and pop it in the fridge to chill for an hour or longer.
03 - Heat your oven up to 375°F (190°C). Line a tray with some parchment paper for easy cleanup.
04 - On a lightly floured countertop, roll the dough into a big rectangle. Scatter the chocolate chips evenly on top, then sprinkle over the brown sugar.
05 - Tightly roll up the dough to form a log. Slice it into pieces about 2 inches thick. Arrange the slices flat side down on your lined baking sheet.
06 - Brush the tops with your beaten egg. Pop them in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until they turn golden.
07 - Transfer the baked pieces to a cooling rack. Give them time to cool completely before digging in.
