Rich Green Tea Bars (Printable Version)

Chewy brownies blended with matcha powder and chunks of chocolate. A fresh twist inspired by Japanese flavors.

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar
02 - 2/3 cup (133g) white sugar
03 - 1 cup (227g) salted butter, warmed and slightly cooled
04 - 3 large eggs, room temp
05 - 1 large egg yolk, room temp
06 - 2 teaspoon (10ml) vanilla, pure extract

→ Dry Ingredients

07 - 1 1/3 cup (167g) plain white flour
08 - 2 tablespoon (30ml) matcha powder, any grade works fine

→ Mix-ins

09 - 1 cup (132g) chopped bittersweet chocolate, optional

# Steps:

01 - Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9x9 pan with parchment, leaving edges sticking out for easy lifting.
02 - Combine the melted butter with both sugars and whisk until smooth. Beat in the eggs, yolk, and vanilla until blended well.
03 - Sift flour and matcha together into the bowl. Gently fold them into the wet mixture. Toss in the optional chocolate if you'd like.
04 - Bake for around 20-25 minutes, or until the center is just set. Let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then move to a rack.

# Notes:

01 - For a fudgy texture, avoid overbaking
02 - Lasts at room temp for 2 days or 5 days in the fridge
03 - Store in the freezer for up to 2 months
