Chewy Bubble Gum (Printable Version)

Create bubble gum from gum base, corn syrup, and sugar. Add your favorite colors and flavors for a fun, hands-on project everyone will love!

# Ingredients:

→ Gum Base Mix

01 - 3 tablespoons gum powder
02 - 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
03 - ¼ cup corn syrup
04 - 1/3 cup gum base

→ Taste and Color

05 - Candy flavors (mint, cherry, etc.)
06 - Any food coloring you like
07 - ¼ teaspoon citric acid to make it sour (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Put the gum base in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each round until it's fully smooth and melted.
02 - Add the corn syrup and stir thoroughly. At this stage, it’ll be thick and super sticky.
03 - Add small drops of your chosen flavor oil and food color, blending it well. You can always add more if needed, so start with less.
04 - Dust your counter or table with powdered sugar. Take the gum mixture out of the bowl and knead it like dough, sprinkling with more powdered sugar until it’s not sticking anymore.
05 - When it feels just right, shape the gum however you want—roll it into balls, stretch it into strips, or make fun shapes. If you want it sour, mix in the citric acid now.
06 - Lay the pieces on some wax paper and leave them for about half an hour. This helps them firm up with the perfect gum chewiness.

# Notes:

01 - Make sure to use flavoring oils that are safe for candy making.
02 - Get creative! Try crazy combinations like cinnamon, fruity flavors, or peppermint.
03 - You can find gum base online or in specialty candy stores.
