Choco Log (Printable Version)

Simple and adaptable choco log, great for gatherings with your choice of nuts or fruits.

# Ingredients:

→ Base components

01 - ¼ cup of roughly chopped toasted nuts (optional)
02 - ¾ cup of Maria biscuits or any digestive, tea, or vanilla cookies

→ Chocolate blend

03 - ¾ stick of unsalted butter
04 - 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
05 - About 6 tablespoons of milk
06 - A splash of your favorite alcohol, like brandy, Amaretto, rum, or Kahlua (optional)
07 - Icing sugar for covering

# Steps:

01 - Place cookies in a zip-top bag and bash with a rolling pin until crumbly. Pour crumbs into a mixing bowl and toss with the nuts, if using.
02 - Pop the butter and chocolate in a medium bowl. Heat over a double boiler or zap in the microwave until melted and smooth. Add in the milk and boozy splash (if you'd like) and stir. Pour this over the crumb mixture and mix thoroughly.
03 - Spread the mixture onto a sheet of parchment or plastic wrap. Roll it up to shape it like a log. Twist the ends shut, then refrigerate for about 3-4 hours to firm it up.
04 - After cooling, unwrap the log and roll it in powdered sugar until coated all over. Use your palms to smooth the sugar evenly around it.
05 - Slice the log into pieces and enjoy. Keep any extras in the fridge or freezer. If frozen, let it soften slightly on the counter before cutting or serving.

# Notes:

01 - No oven needed! You can make this ahead of time, which is great for entertaining.
