Cheesy Ham Biscuits (Printable Version)

Golden biscuits filled with tasty ham and melted cheddar, baked to perfection and great for any time of day.

# Ingredients:

→ Biscuit Bottom

01 - 1 tablespoon of white sugar
02 - 2½ cups of plain flour
03 - 1¾ cups buttermilk (add more if the mix feels dry)
04 - 1½ tablespoons of baking powder

→ Tasty Additions

05 - 1½ cups of sharp cheddar, shredded
06 - 2½ cups ham, chopped into small cubes

→ Butter & Touch Ups

07 - ½ cup salted butter, melted to a liquid
08 - Cooking spray or extra butter to grease the pan

# Steps:

01 - Set your oven to 450°F and butter up or spray a 9x9-inch pan so nothing sticks.
02 - Grab the flour, sugar, and baking powder. Whisk them together in a large bowl until they blend smoothly.
03 - Slowly pour in buttermilk as you mix gently with a wooden spoon. The dough should be sticky, but if it’s too dry, splash in a little more buttermilk.
04 - Mix in the shredded cheese and diced ham, making sure they spread evenly through the dough.
05 - Drizzle the melted butter into the pan, spreading it all around so the whole base is covered. This step guarantees a crispy bottom layer.
06 - Scoop the dough into the buttery pan, pressing it gently into the corners so it’s even all over.
07 - Lightly mark the dough into 9 squares using a sharp knife. This helps you separate them easier after baking.
08 - Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning the pan halfway through. Cover with foil if it browns too fast on top.
09 - Let the biscuits cool down in their baking dish for about 5 minutes, then serve warm with butter or honey on the side.

# Notes:

01 - It's fine if the dough has a few bumps—don’t overmix! This keeps them fluffy.
02 - The melted butter on the bottom adds a satisfying crispiness.
03 - Warm biscuits taste best, but they warm up great in the oven if you're eating them later.
04 - These work amazingly for breakfast, brunch, or paired with soup and salad.
