Blueberry Butter Squares (Printable Version)

These buttery squares soak up melted butter as they bake, packed with juicy blueberries and topped off with a sweet glaze. Just right for morning or midday!

# Ingredients:

→ Biscuits

01 - 1 cup (148 g) fresh or frozen blueberries, split into two portions
02 - 3 tbsp sugar, granulated, used in two parts
03 - 2 ½ cups (312.5 g) plain all-purpose flour
04 - 4 tsp baking powder
05 - 2 cups (490 g) tangy buttermilk
06 - ½ cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, melted

→ Glaze

07 - 1 cup (125 g) powdered sugar
08 - 2 tbsp whole milk, adjust for desired texture

# Steps:

01 - Turn your oven on and heat it up to 450°F.
02 - Mix ¾ cup of blueberries with 2 tbsp sugar in a small dish. Leave it to sit for now.
03 - In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and the remaining tbsp of sugar.
04 - Gently stir the buttermilk into the dry mixture until it's mostly combined. Be careful not to overdo it.
05 - Carefully stir the sugared blueberries into the dough, adding any juices from the sugar mixture as well.
06 - Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking pan. Spread the dough on top so it fills the whole dish.
07 - Lightly mark the dough into 9 even squares (a 3×3 grid). Sprinkle on the rest of the blueberries. Bake in the oven for 30 to 32 minutes until the tops are golden.
08 - While the biscuits bake, mix milk and powdered sugar together in a medium bowl. Add a bit more milk if it feels too thick.
09 - Take the biscuits out once baked. Give them time to fully cool before drizzling the glaze on top. Slice along the pre-cut marks and enjoy!

# Notes:

01 - These buttery biscuits are unique because they bake surrounded by melted butter, creating an ultra-rich flavor.
02 - For a softer texture, stir the dough as little as possible after adding buttermilk.
