Citrus Chocolate Delights (Printable Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cupcake Batter

01 - 1 cup white sugar
02 - 1½ cups plain flour
03 - ½ tsp baking soda
04 - 1 tsp baking powder
05 - ½ cup softened butter (unsalted)
06 - ¼ tsp fine salt
07 - 2 big eggs
08 - ½ cup buttermilk
09 - 2 tbsp grated orange peel
10 - ½ cup squeezed orange juice

→ Chocolate Topping

11 - 3 cups powdered (confectioners) sugar
12 - 1 cup softened unsalted butter
13 - ½ cup unsweetened cocoa
14 - 2 to 3 tbsp milk or cream
15 - 1 tsp vanilla flavor

# Steps:

01 - Get your oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
02 - Stir together flour, sugar, soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
03 - Beat butter till creamy, then mix in sugar. Blend eggs one by one. Stir in orange juice and zest.
04 - Add the dry mix and buttermilk alternately, stirring lightly each time until just blended.
05 - Spoon batter into liners (leaving a little space at the top). Bake 18 to 20 minutes. Let them cool completely on a rack.
06 - Whip butter until it’s velvety. Add powdered sugar gradually, mixing well. Toss in cocoa, milk, and vanilla and blend until fluffy. Pipe onto cooled cupcakes.
